Nancy Drew Mystery Stories

(Books 1-56)

*Work in Progress*

1. The Secret of the Old Clock

The original books were action packed and well written. They consisted of 25 chapters, and Nancy was much bolder, sassier, and much less perfect.

Brief Overview: In 1927, Edward Stratemeyer introduced the Hardy Boys to the world. The series was such a big success that he decided to create a similar series for girls. Long story short, he created outlines and gave them to a writer named Mildred A. Wirt, and in 1929 she wrote the first book, The Secret of the Old Clock. On April 28th, 1930, the first 3 books in the Nancy Drew Mystery Stories was released  and became an immediate success.

Book Synopsis:

When the Topham family inherits all of Josiah Crowley's fortune, something isn't right about the whole affair. Josiah promised other friends and relatives that they would inherit. 16-year-old Nancy Drew, joined by chum Helen Corning, searches for a hidden will in order to help restore the inheritances to the rightful heirs.

In this original text, Nancy is strong-willed, competitive, sassy, and bold.
